About US

Hi I’m Kay!

I joined an Egyptian dance class over 20 years ago. From the moment the music started, I was enraptured with the music and the dance moves and this hobby quickly turned into something more encompassing and I began to start teaching my own class over 10 years ago. I regularly attend master classes and workshops here in the UK with Egyptian teachers or teachers trained in Egyptian style to refine and improve technique, and my understanding of this dance genre. I also travel to Egypt (the birthplace of this art form) as much as possible to keep my dance skills up to date, as well as taking inspiration from the source by attending training courses, dance festivals and taking private tuition from some of the top stars and mentors in Egyptian dance. These trips also provide an opportunity to soak up the atmosphere of the country, discover its culture and history and how these in turn have influenced dance.

About the class / Egyptian dancE

Egyptian dance (or bellydance) is considered to be one of the oldest forms of dance and is a dance form that celebrates your body regardless of shape, size or age. It is a dance that emphasizes the relaxed natural isolations of the torso and articulation of the hips; it uses almost all muscles of the body to build balance and stability as well as flexibility and strength. As feet rarely leave the floor, it is considered to be a low impact dance form so is perfect for a range of fitness levels.

Previous dance experience is not a prerequisite to come to class only a sense of fun and a desire to move your body to the rhythms of the music. Learn with like minded individuals all in a supportive environment.

You don’t need anything special to attend class; wear clothes that you can move freely in, coin ‘hip’ belts are available to borrow and you don’t need to reveal any part of your body, unless of course you want to.
